Company history

'ECOMAL' stands for Electronic Components and Logistics. The ECOMAL history begins in the establishment of Roederstein Bauelemente Vertrieb GmbH in 1972 nestled in Kirchzarten in the Black Forest of Germany, where the headquarters of Ecomal remain. The company developed an extensive distribution network across Europe for electronic components.

21 years later, in 1993, Roederstein Bauelemente Vertrieb GmbH was acquired by VISHAY Intertechnology from Pennsylvania, USA; an already renowned worldwide organisation. The following year, Roederstein Bauelemente was renamed VISHAY Bauelemente Vertrieb GmbH becoming the logistics arm of the company.

VISHAY's further acquisition of several European companies including Telefunken and Siliconix lead to the renaming of the organisation to better reflect the growing product range and customer base. And so, in 2000 ECOMAL Deutschland officially came into existence. A year later, the logistics warehouse was centralised in Kirchzarten to cover all shipments for the company.

By 2012, the Logistics Centre was doubled in size to provide space for the ever increasing portfolio of products. The now 8000m² logistics centre houses 49,000 different products; a total of 1.5 billion individual items.

At the start of 2014, ECOMAL Deutschland GmbH became Ecomal Europe GmbH to reflect the growing family and ambitions of the company. There are offices across Germany as well as national branch offices in Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Spain and Italy. In 2014, ECOMAL Europe GmbH also opened a new national office in Sweden. Since 2015 the sales offices in Poland and Hungary were transformed into national branch offices. 2017 the national branch office Slovenia was opened.
