Regulation (EC) no. 1907/2006 (REACH regulation)
REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals. The REACH regulation regulates the manufacture, marketing/distribution and handling of industrial chemicals. This new Europe-wide chemicals regulation has been enforced since 1st June 2007.

The key areas of this regulation include a general compulsory registration with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) for all chemicals made or brought into use in the EU, the evaluation of these chemicals by member states of the EU and the further regulation of certain hazardous substances. These are either restricted in certain specific applications or subject to a new European authorisation procedure.

The main goal of REACH is an improvement in the protection of human health and the environment.

Directive 2011/65/EC (RoHS-II)
The EC directive 2011/65/EC which restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment regulates the use of hazardous substances in equipment and components.

The directive and its implementation in national law is summarized with the abbreviation RoHS (Restriction of (the use of certain) hazardous substances).

Hereby the main goal is to prevent the use of problematic components in products which has occurred during the massive growth of disposable electronic equipment.
